Circa 1960 practice mask allegedly used by Jacques Plante. Never used in an NHL game. The characteristics of this mask are consistent with the practice masks Plante is seen using around 1960. It measures 6.75" x 6.5" x 4.5". Deterioration, staining and rivet oxidization to harness. Padding is soiled and worn. Plastic surface shows scuffs, scratches and marks. On June 4th, 1963, Plante was traded from the Montreal Canadians to the New York Rangers. Upon hearing the news he is said to have emptied his locker, including this practice mask, into the trash. Teammate John 'Fergy" Ferguson salvaged the mask. Before his death, Ferguson Sr. gifted it to longtime friend and colleague Bob Habkirk. Habkirk is now selling the mask with all proceeds (less expenses) to benefit the Alzheimer's Society, Elgin - St Thomas. These historical details are supported by current Boston Bruins executive John Ferguson Jr., son of John "Fergy" Ferguson. Est. $9000-12000
