Conrad Furey
Conrad Furey (1954-2008) was a painter, sculptor, and woodcarver based in Hamilton, Ontario, active from the 1970s onward. Born in Newfoundland, Furey's vibrant, naive figurative landscapes often depicted characters and scenes from his childhood, with recurring themes of working boats and dories. His works, rich in colour, humor, and empathy, also included painted carvings and yard art. Furey's contributions to Canadian folk art are noted in Good Heavens (Murray, 1981) and Gratton (1983). He is the brother of artist John Furey.
